Unified Financial Management Helps Haribon Foundation Focus on Biodiversity

Founded in 1972 as a bird-watching society in the Philippines, Haribon Foundation evolved into an environmental nongovernmental organisation (NGO) focusing on conserving natural sites and habitats, saving species, encouraging sustainability and empowering Filipinos to become biodiversity champions. Over time, the NGO found it needed greater visibility into its financials and membership and donor data to scale and sustain its mission: Conserving the Philippines’ biodiversity.

Bolstering Growth of Business and Biodiversity

Success driven by financial transparency
To support its operations, Haribon Foundation relies heavily on local-government funding, fees from its 186 members and donations from individuals and more than 70 corporate sponsors. The diversity of its funding sources collectively enabled the NGO to take on more than 100 biodiversity projects to date—but it also raised challenges.
Data fragmentation hinders visibility
The NGO used to manually update QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access to track its financials, membership and donor database, respectively. This fragmentation limited its ability to demonstrate full accountability and stewardship of funds to its members, donors and the government.
Integrated system enables control, efficiency
Haribon Foundation deployed NetSuite’s cloud ERP through the Oracle NetSuite Social Impact programme. Now, the organisation can update its membership and donor database in just two minutes rather than 15 minutes and generate annual financial reports in one day rather than four weeks.
Conserving growth through customisation
To drive further growth, Haribon Foundation plans to use NetSuite to segment its donors and members and to identify which projects resonate with the different groups. This will help it to tailor future marketing campaigns accordingly and drive more support for its causes.
